"ILIUM" is an application for the field archaeology,
that organizes and automatizes many of the documentation tasks.
It can be used in excavations or when documenting historical buildings.
The software allows the insertion of archaeological data, their visualization, their filtering, their exportation for
presentation and, to a minimum extent, the execution of some statistical calculations.
The data are recorded via forms, that correspond to the "sheets" traditionally used in the field.
There are several ways to fill these forms: some fields are compulsory among a limited range of possibilities,
others are filled "indirectly", by the sensors of the device, others are to be filled with a simple free text.
Even in the latter cases, however, the software will present to the user a range of possibilities, not mandatory,
depending on the data already entered.
To start using the software, tap on the icon
and create a new "intervention file".
The use of the program is rather intuitive - if you have, at least, a minimal experience in archaeology - and the software itself
usually warns about not allowed or incongruous operations.
Therefore, you can start using it without prior preparation.
However, before using ILIUM
in the production of real archaeological documentation, it is recommended to read
completely the manual.
