Introductory screen

Tapping on this icon allows to create a new file of "Intervention" or open an existing one.
This action will open a file explorer. You have to navigate to the path in which you want to create the new file or where it's already stored. Once reached the desired folder (or created a new one in this path selecting the "create folder" option), you have to enter the name of the new file, or select an existing one. Specifying the extension ".ilium" is not mandatory (though it's allowed), since the program will add it automatically.

NOTE: Currently, you cannot store an excavation file into an "external SD card". Even if your device has one, it will not will be listed in the file explorer. Hence, files can be stored only into the internal memory of the device.

Some aspects have to be taken in account:

- It's not possible to overwrite a file. If, for example, you introduce, as a file name, an already existing one (and in the same folder of an already existing intervention) the program will not create a new file, but it will open the existing one.
- Even more IMPORTANT: the file name is definitive and changing it by other means (a "rename" action in another file explorer, for example) will lead to conflicts with the already introduced data of that intervention. Take in account that the file name is used as prefix for several elements (S.U., Materials...) identifiers.

Tapping on this icon will open the last intervention you worked on, whose file name appears next to the icon.

Selecting a new or already existent file will start the recording session.
Once opened an intervention file, the user can navigate trough the main sections of the software by tapping on the "three lines icon" in the upper left corner of the screen.

Tapping on this icon will open a small form in which the user can store some recurrent data for the next usage session of the software. A few fields that probably will be constant within a normal usage session, and that the program can fill automatically:

- Author of the recording sheet.
- Area.
- Sector.
- Trench.

Tapping on this icon allows to change the language of the user interface and the geographical horizon of the intervention on which you will work.

Be aware that edits on the file of an intervention are allowed only if the language selected corresponds to the language in which the intervention file was created. The software will alert you and will prevent modification of the file until the correct language is selected.

On the other hand, the geographical horizon of the intervention will determine the periodization adopted (different, for example, between Old and New World) for the work session.

Tapping on this icon allows accessing to the introduction of the help files and to the summary of contents. From there, the entire manual can be read. Anyway, each screen of the program is linked to the corresponding help section. To access it, tap on the "three dots icon" in the upper right part of the screen.
